Usually plans for the weekend are also laid down beforehand, but all the weekend activities are relaxing and those that give pleasure to the body and the soul. And what better way of starting a weekend than with a hearty and delicious breakfast prepared with love? Enjoy our selection of three of the most deserving Sunday morning family breakfasts.
- 1. Cinnamon Pancakes With Royal Icing
Perhaps the first thing that comes to our mind when we think of breakfast and weekend together is ‘pancakes.’ But pancakes can become boring; which is why you have to try this great recipe, especially if you love cinnamon buns. With your regular pancake recipe of 1 ½ cups flour, 2 eggs, 1 cup milk, 4tsp baking powder, 3 tbsp sugar, ¼ cup melted butter and 1 tbsp vanilla, also add in 1 tablespoon cinnamon and 2 tablespoon maple syrup.
Mix the dry and wet ingredients separately with each other before whisking them together to a smooth and thick paste. Make pancakes in your skillet in a regular fashion. These pancakes are yummy as it is but to make them absolutely irresistible, try pouring over an icing that is produced from mixing together 1 cup confectioners’ sugar, 2 tablespoon milk and 2 tablespoon melted butter. For someone who has a sweet tooth, nothing is going to top this recipe.
- 2. Egg and Sausage, Cheesy Breakfast Pizza
Now coming to those people who have young kids that do not tire from eating cheesy treats like ‘Pizza’, here is something fun that you can try. For this easy and delicious recipe you can use any number of ready-to-serve pizza crusts depending upon your requirement. If they are frozen allow them to thaw. Besides the crusts, all that you are going to need is eggs, any kind of prepared meat chunks (like sausage, bacon or nuggets) and of course, cheese.
Use your pan to fry and heat the chunky meat pieces. When done, take them out and set them aside. Now in the same pan pour 5 – 6 beaten eggs (depending upon the number of crusts). Do not stir or mix; let them cook on medium heat. When they are thickened and they hold together, but not cooked through, taken them out and divide in portions.
Layer your crusts with cheese, eggs, meat and then cheese and bake for 10 minutes.
- 3. Egg-White Omelette with Fresh Veggies
There are people who like their usual omelette and bread breakfast; for such people a little twist with the omelette itself is the best weekend option. Take only whites from three eggs so that you save yourself from the cholesterol offered by so many yolks. Beat them with a bit of seasoning until soft peaks are formed.
In another bowl prepare a mixture of tossed fresh spinach strips, tomato strips, bell pepper strips and any other vegetable you like with grated low-fat cheddar cheese. Pour in omelette mixture in the pan. When cooked completely from one side, spoon the veggie mixture on half of the omelette before folding the other half over it.
Cook for another minute and take out.
And what would you choose………… 🙂
