It is good to do some thorough cleaning once or maybe twice a month. However if you really want to keep your kitchen looking fresh and sparkling everyday then there are some simple tips which when followed on a daily basis will keep your kitchen cleaner with very little effort.
1. Empty your dishwasher and sink
This is possibly the simplest suggestion but when you begin cooking make sure that both your dishwasher as well as the sink are free of any kind of dirty dishes. Now when you cook you can rinse the dishes or load them into the dishwasher as and when they get dirty and clear them out immediately instead of leaving them overnight.
2. Clean Immediately
It is very important that you do not leave the cleaning to be done at a later stage. Considering that you already have an empty sink and dishwasher, cleaning gets much simpler and clean as and when something gets dirty. This way you will not be left with a big mess to clean up at the end.
3. Clean the sink
Never forget to clean and disinfect the kitchen sink once you are done with all the dishes and cleaning of the rest of the kitchen. It prevents the sink from getting all gunky or greasy in the longer run.
4. Get some maintenance work done once a month
All your knives and cookware which may have gotten a little rusty or spotty need to be maintained regularly. Remove the rust spots or stains and get all your kitchen cookware, knives and tools shiny again. Tackling these issues at least once a month is a great idea as this will prevent the stains from taking over a lot of your time later.
5. Oil the cutting board
If you use wooden cutting boards then it is important to oil it once a month. This practice which will take just five minutes but in the long run it will prevent the board from spoiling. This can be done with the spoons as well. This practice will ensure that the wooden things in your kitchen will need to be replaced a lot less often.
6. Clear your countertops
Messy countertop is the worst thing you can do to your kitchen. Having a really pretty countertop but filling it up with too many things too looks very unpleasant. Clear out some of the things from on top of the countertop and always keep it clean. This will inspire you to cook.
