Christmas is an eagerly awaited festival of the year which celebrates the birth of Christ with family and friends. It is the time when loved ones come together to enjoy a family meal in harmony. Thus, while the spirit of this gesture is well understood and celebrated, the ‘meal’ too must be given due consideration for everyone to enjoy. Maple Roast Turkey and Gravy
Turkey is a common favorite with people and can be made in a very tasty way for the Christmas special dinner. It includes stuffing the England style Turkey and using maple syrup with it. You can use a variety of stuffing’s such as the cranberry, apple and sausages. The Turkey must be prepared like your own preparation suggests, just with the addition of these ingredients for stuffing.
The dish should be prepared with fresh marjoram in hand in about the quantity of two tablespoons. Apple brandy adds a lot of zing to the taste of this Turkey which can be a good seasoning. Use fresh thyme to give a nice taste and take care of the roast of the turkey for about thirty minutes at 375 degrees. Then cover it with foil and roast it for about three to four hours at 350 degrees in unstuffed condition. This will allow all these flavors to come out in a nice and crunchy way.
The dish is made by boiling the apple cider and maple syrup in the large pan and mixing all the ingredients to mix with it for the gravy. The roasted turkey is served with the gravy and with chopped vegetables kept around it.
Duck Breasts with Raspberry Sauce
This recipe is also very famously cooked for Christmas dinner and can be done with the chicken and beef variants too. The recipe is made by frying the duck breasts skin side down for skin to turn brown and easy removal of fat. Then you remove the fat and fry the skin side up for it to be then placed on a baking sheet. Then you simmer the skin with sugar, sea salt and cinnamon. The sauce is prepared by simmering red wine and starch in a pan. Raspberries are added and the sauce is simmered for it to thicken. Then the duck breast is to be broiled skin side up for a minute and is to be sliced thin to be served warm with sauce.
Suet Pudding for dessert
For this dish, sour the milk by adding lemon juice to it. Then for the batter mix, flour, milk, molasses, baking soda and raisins and steam it for about two hours. The mixture is then combined with vanilla, confectioners’ sugar and egg white. This mixture is heated at a medium flame for it to thicken well. The warm pudding is then served for dessert.
The main ingredient in all of these recipes is ‘love’. It is this special ingredient which goes into making any given dish for Christmas dinner delicious and unforgettable throughout the year.
